WHAT A MESS!!!

I thought I'd share what I've been doing. No not having a good time scrapping and creating, but cleaning up a big mess. We woke up Thursday morning to a flooded basement! Our sump pump stopped working and we've been cleaning up for the last four days.
You want to know the worst part of it? My scrapping room is down there!!!!! I was very, very lucky. I don't think any of my treasures were ruined! Thank God!!
This was a real wake-up call for us. We've been buying shelves and organizing everything. Our basement was finished but we just had the cement blocks painted. So my husband had this bright idea to build walls inside the cement blocks and drywall the basement. This way it will look more homey and we can insulate. I'm sure it's going to take some time, since we are doing it all ourselves. My husband turns 58 Tues. and I'm 51 and we don't get as much done as we used to. We built the house 11 years ago and had all sorts of ambition. Not any more! Ha!!
So needless to say I won't be crafting for quite some time. I'm so bummed, but in the long run my space will be much nicer. I plan on taking a little more of the basement when everything is put back together. I'll make sure and post pictures of my studio when it's finished.
Have a great day everyone. Shari

  1. Shari- so so sorry to hear about this flooding of your basement- I can't imagine this happening. I too would be overwhelmed by the loss of valuable belongings and if it was my scrapbook room OMG this would be terrible. Good luck getting this all cleaned up and hopefully you will take some time and scrap a bit it helps relieve some stress- which I'm sure there is alot of that right now.

  2. Oh that sucks. :( I'm sorry you had that mess to face.

On a brighter note, however, I always assumed you were in your mid 30's! Your pic looked like you were!

  3. Oh, Shari, I am so sorry this happened to you; you certainly don't deserve something like that. I know what that's like; I've had it happen to me!!! I wish I could be there to help you with it all! Ours was so bad, they had to tear out our walls down to the bricks and remove all the wood beams. We had to have the entire basement redone which, at the time, had only been remodeled for less than 1 year. Thank goodness for insurance!!! Unfortunately, I did lose a lot of my crafting supplies!

I pray that all gets re-organized soon and that nothing like that ever happens to you again. Sometimes I just feel that such horrific things happen to the most beautiful people!!!! Can't offer my help but I can offer my prayers!

I came to say thank you for all the love you left me, and now I just wish I could do more for you!

    Love you and hugs!
