NEW CANVAS

I recently attempted my second canvas. I wanted to have something personalized to add to my gift of money at my cousins wedding. I copied their engagement photo in black and white (the bride loves black and white in her decor)  I figured it needed a pop of color and being it was fall I used the rust color. They liked it, what do you think?

I love Art Journaling!

I've really been getting into this whole art journal business. Here are some of the pages I've been doing. I'm playing and having a good time using modeling paste, sprays, inks, paints, stencils etc. What do you think, I love your comments, they make my day. Thanks for looking, Shari

My second Art Journal attempt

I recently had a chance to play in my art journal. I've watched a lot of you tube videos and I have really been intrigued to try new and different techniques. I think my favorite so far is http://www.france-papillon.com/ she does a Journal on Monday series and I've learned so much from her. Check her out, she is very talented!
For these pages I found a napkin that I had saved of different pretty and bright flowers. I first used gesso on my pages and then started building layers of different inks. I have yet to buy the dillusions sprays so I've been using TH re-inkers and adding water to them to make sprays. I used a stencil that reminded me of honeycomb so I stamped the bees next to those areas.  After a lot of layering I stamped different images faintly in the background. I then fussy cut the flowers out of the napkins and mod podged them on the pages. I cut out leaves and inked them up and added stems to my flowers. added a few dragon fly charms and decided it was finished. I'm quite pleased with it and think I'm hooked on art journaling. What do you think? Let me know if you like my finished project, I love your comments. Shari

MY FIRST JOURNAL ATTEMPT

I finally decided to join in on the Art Journaling everyone is doing these days.  A couple of weeks ago I bought Dyan Reaverley's Dylusions Creative  Journal.
I watch Jim, The Gentleman Crafter and Shari Carroll from http://simonsaysstampblog.blogspot.com/2013/06/shari-carroll-june-installment-of-art.html                                                                                                       do these awesome journaling pages and always wanted to try one.
Tonight I got up the courage to attempt my first art journaling.
I first took Mod Podge and covered my pages with Tim Holtz tissue paper. Once that was dry I started applying TH Distress Inks. I used Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon and Peacock Feathers.
I used some stencils and some modeling paste in different areas. I cut out the dress form out of chipboard and made a stencil. I also used modeling paste for this. To dress her up, I added some burlap fringe for a skirt with a pearl brad for a belt. Some flat back pearls for a necklace and two metal flowers with flat back pearls in the center for her bra. I used some chipboard wings and covered them with rub n buff and stamped a pattern onto them.
I then used some TH and Dylusions stamps and began stamping randomly.
I'm pretty happy with how my first attempt at art journaling turned out, and I definitely will be doing more. What do you think, I love your comments!

I finally got to meet Tim Holtz!

Mothers Day weekend my wonderful daughter took me to the Great Lakes Mega Meet in Novi Michigan. I've always wanted to meet Tim Holtz , I had heard what a great guy he is, and what a great teacher. Well he was all that, and more!

We sat andwatched him demo for hours, my daughter was a great sport and did whatever I wanted to do.  He made us each a fragment charm and signed the back. I got one of the tags he made, signed, a metal tape demo he made, and he signed my TH bags.

Ibought many products from the Stampers Anonymous Booth and had two days of heaven.  Deni bought me a beautiful necklace with charms inside from South Hill Designs. Thanks so much Deni Lynn for a memorable Mothers Day Weekend! I love you!!!!!
