Another medium I like to work on is Gourds~
This is a gourd I wood burned on. (pyrography) Now and then I pick up the wood burner and play around. Here is a gourd I cut the top off of and cleaned out. I burned the images in the gourd after using tracing paper and my image. I painted the flowers to add a little color and used shellac on the whole thing. The top is laced with leather. I hope you like it. Shari
Someone asked where I got my patterns to trace on the gourds. I looked high and low, coloring books, craftbooks at the library etc. But I finally found a book called: Designs and Patterns for Embroiderers and craftspeople.(512 Motifs from the Wm. Briggs and Company Ltd. Album of Transfer Patterns. I hope this helps.

Hola Shari. This is so beautiful! You are a lady with many talents.... I thank you for sharing with us. And your flowers are perfect for Easter! Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWow, Shari!!! This looks complicated but it's soooo beautiful! That must have taken you some time, huh? I have a wood burner I bought at Michaels some years ago on sale and it has some attachments to it. Don't know why I even bought it but you sure have inspired me to thinking I just may use it one day!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!!! beautiful Love the birds they are gorgeous!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, Shari. Come on over and grab an award I have waiting for you on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHola Shari. I just started doing sketches and I find them fascinating because it makes you think outside the box and do things different than what we are use to. It is like following a map and yet, you can do your own thing. I follow several of them: StuckonUSketches, Paper Niche, Liz Qualman and Creative Scrappers. I love them all. Try them, you will love them. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the source of your patterns. I really must try some of these. In fact i picked up some gourd Thursday night at my master gardener's meeting. Yours ar just beautiful.
